Peace Day was observed at Carmel School, Moodbidri on Thursday, January 30th, 2020. Mr. Sandesh D’Souza, CPI, Beltangady graced the accession as the Chief Guest.

The event commenced with a prayer service invoking the blessings of the Almighty for peace and harmony by students of of VA and IX . The Chief Guest, school Principal Sr. Jyothi Saldanha and the gathering was warmly welcomed which was followed by a welcome dance by students of VA and VB.

Niyathi of class VII briefed upon the significance of the day by saying it is a day of death of Mahatma Gandhi the man who fought peacefully and got independence for India. Each year we celebrate Peace Day to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace. The students of class III A and III B thrilled the audience with a dance on messenger of peace. A Skit on non violence was enacted by class IV A and IV B. The students of class II A and II B danced to a touching song on humanity.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Sandesh highlighted that peace means the world of happiness and harmony. He gave a meaningful message on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and urged everyone to initiate the values taught by Gandhi like unity, love, tolerance and non- violence, so that everyone becomes an instrument of peace in their homes and surroundings.

On this day, tiny tots of the school were honoured for their talents in various competitions. Also students who took part in various activities outside the school were honoured by the chief guest.

The programme was compered by Angel, Rowan, Dheeraj and Uvel of class VA.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Melisha from class VIII.
